GRAND JETTE

May 4, 2010

As I said Ruben Blades, "which was created to hammer the nails sky will fall." Just yesterday I was called Morón de la Frontera to communicate that he had won the prize for stories organized by this council. And guess what, my blogger! Indeed, it has no funding. Yes, edit it with the finalists, in a beautiful book.

These things only happen to me.

"This certainly fills you with moral-me a friend says.

"But now I have a lot of moral self. What I want is pasta, "I reply.

However, I am very happy, mind you. Happy. And very grateful to the people of the jury.

The story that has earned it the title "Grand Jette" and not included here because it is very long, about fifteen pages. It is the story of a father looking forward to her young daughter learn ballet ("grand jette" is a technical term for the dance which means "great leap") and become a dancer. To do this for many sacrifices, is removed from many of whims, works like a mule ... The story jumps to the time when the daughter sent some invitations to their parents to go see it at its premiere in the city. The father, tremendously excited, you wear your best suit, the mother out of the trunk with the centenary scarf that is safe, not out of place among the great world, and well dressed and excited to reach the event venue.

is a facility in a country road, a setting of red lights and padded door. The sound of music comes to the outside, and when the marriage goes around the world gets to watch them.

is then explained, "I'd like to think subtly that race was a flop girl, who had no skills or admitted to the National Company. Dancing is really clinging to the bar of a roadside bar, but she and her parents live blinded by illusion and believe they are giving and seeing real ballet steps , lewd and applause from the spectators when the daughter removes the support seem a standing ovation worthy of Fonteyn or Pavlova.

This is the story. It has been tragic, I know ... and most surprising, or as seriously, is that story came from a comic, that at the end of the performance the daughter invites her parents to move to the back of night club and finds out that the owner of the club is a type ballet lover and classical music, a healthy man whose main hobby is fishing without a death, a kind of impeccable manners who runs the business by simply following family tradition. That was the original story, which extended to twenty pages and I had to cut to fit in the dialed. And to take that last point and leave it in the comic drama, the truth is I do not know if I saved the story or not I took all his juice. I am thinking about that, but I'll never know.
